This app was built to live stream the 2017 solar eclipse from Corona, California. Students involved in this project are members of our Chemistry Club (ChemClub) STEM team. The purpose behind this project is to share our educational experiences with our community and to recreate the discovery of the element helium on the sun during the solar eclipse of August 18, 1868. The English astronomer Norman Lockyer and English chemist Edward Frankland named the element helios, after the Greek word for the Sun.
Atomic Emission Spectrum: Record the spectrum of the chromosphere of the Sun and identify the emission spectrum of the element helium.
